How did TenCate improve ransomware recovery?
Before working with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), TenCate Protective Fabrics struggled to recover quickly from ransomware. During an early CryptoLocker attack on a manufacturing facility, all file servers were infected. The only option was to restore from disk, which meant:
- 12 hours of data lost
- Two weeks to fully recover
After deploying HPE Zerto Software, the story changed. A later ransomware attack again hit directories on a file server in a manufacturing facility, but this time TenCate:
- Lost only 10 seconds of data
- Recovered in under 10 minutes
Using Zerto, the team simply selected a recovery point a few minutes before the infection, validated that the virtual machine (VM) was clean, reconnected the vNIC, and brought services back online. Combined with stronger end-user training on suspicious activity, TenCate now has a more confident, repeatable way to handle ransomware incidents while keeping critical operations running.

TenCate Protective Fabrics uses HPE Zerto as a core enabler of its hybrid cloud strategy. The company runs a complex mix of workloads, including virtualized databases, infrastructure VMs, and web application VMs, across multiple sites and clouds.

- From on-premises into AWS
